Gaza catastrophic hunger

The Israeli government has not allowed any aid to enter Gaza since March 2. This is a deliberate, manufactured famine—and the world is letting it happen.”



Before the Israeli military’s genocidal assault on Gaza began, the millions of Palestinians living there were trapped by the Israeli military’s 16-year siege and were dependent on 500 trucks of aid a day. Now, nearly two years into the genocide, the Israeli military is blocking all aid from entering.



Famine in Gaza did not appear out of thin air. It is the result of the Israeli government’s choices to starve Palestinians, and the US government’s choices to provide funding and defend the Israeli government as it commits this atrocity.



@palestinianyouthmovement explains: “Starvation kills, not only directly, but also by diminishing the bodies ability to respond to other life-threatening circumstances prevalent in Gaza. Within just a few days without food, the body begins to consume itself, drawing on its own tissue for reserves of fat and protein.”



“This process, weakens the immune system and destroys the bodies ability to regulate temperature, two effects that can prove fatal for a people— like Palestinians in Gaza— living, exposed to the elements and widespread disease without access to medicine.”
